A recent study published in the journal Neurology found that taking a calcium supplement puts some women at a greater risk for developing dementia. Researchers from the University of Gothenburg in Sweden tracked the health of 700 dementia-free women between the ages of 70 and 92 for five years. At the end of the study, women who took calcium supplements were twice as likely to develop dementia as those who didn’t.
